Accessing Link Analytics
To view analytics for a short link:
- Sign in to your Trimlink account.
- Open your preferred workspace.
- Navigate to Short Links from the sidebar.
- Locate the short link you want to analyze.
- Click View Details or Analytics.
The analytics dashboard will immediately load all available performance data for the selected short link.
Phase 1: Analytics Overview Dashboard
When you open the analytics for a short link, you will first see the high-level Overview Dashboard. This screen provides an immediate snapshot of your campaign's global performance.
1. High-Level Metrics & Date Filtering
At the top of the dashboard, you can filter your entire view using the Date Range selector. The primary metric cards will automatically update to display your Total Clicks, QR Code Scans, Unique Clicks, Human Clicks, and Bot Clicks for that period.
2. Engagement Over Time
This primary bar chart visualizes your traffic velocity day-by-day. It breaks down your traffic into Total Clicks, QR Code Scans, Unique Clicks, Human Clicks, and Bot Clicks, allowing you to spot traffic spikes or campaign fatigue at a glance.
3. Traffic & Technology Breakdown
Below the engagement chart, your audience data is visualized into clean pie charts and graphs, including:
- Traffic Sources: Where your visitors are coming from (e.g., Direct, Google, Facebook).
- Link Access by Operating System: (e.g., Windows, macOS, Android).
- Link Access by Browser: (e.g., Chrome, Safari, Firefox).
- Link Access by Device: (e.g., Desktop, Mobile, Tablet).
4. Interactive Global Map Overview
At the bottom of the overview screen, Trimlink provides an interactive map that visualizes visitor activity around the world. To prevent the screen from becoming cluttered with thousands of individual pins, the map uses intelligent clustering technology to organize visitor locations and simplify large datasets.
Map Features:
- Country-level and City-level visualization: See exactly which countries and local regions are driving the most traffic.
- Interactive zoom controls: Zoom in for tight, city-level traffic estimates or zoom out for a macro, global view.
- Traffic clustering: Nearby visitors are grouped into clean, numbered bubble clusters.
- Visitor density analysis: Larger clusters immediately highlight your geographic hotspots and regional engagement trends.
Exploring Map Clusters: When multiple visitors originate from nearby locations, Trimlink groups them into these clusters. To investigate where your audience is concentrated:
- Scroll down to the Interactive Map on the Overview screen.
- Click on a specific cluster marker to automatically zoom into that region.
- Review the grouped visitor information that appears.
- Click View Detail inside the cluster marker to transition directly into the deep-dive analytics screen (Phase 2), where you can apply advanced filters to that specific geographic segment.
Phase 2: Deep Dive Analytics & The IP List
To investigate specific regions or audience segments, you must move from the Overview Dashboard to the Detailed Analytics screen.
How to access: Simply click View Detail inside any of the interactive map cluster markers.
1. Advanced Filtering
Unlike the main overview screen, this deep-dive screen unlocks your advanced filtering capabilities. You can cross-reference multiple data points simultaneously to isolate specific traffic segments:
- Geography: Filter by exact Country or City.
- Technology: Filter by Browser, Device, or Operating System.
- Traffic Quality: Filter strictly by Human or Bot traffic.
- Date Range: Narrow down the specific timeframe.
2. Dynamic Engagement & Demographic Charts
As you apply your advanced filters, the visual reporting on this screen instantly updates to reflect only your filtered subset of visitors:
- Geographic Progress Chart: Instead of a standard timeline bar chart, this screen features a dynamic progress chart. It includes a convenient Cities and Countries tab switcher, allowing you to easily toggle the view and measure exactly which specific regions are driving your filtered traffic.
- Technology & Source Pie Charts: The standard pie charts (Traffic Sources, Operating System, Browser, and Device) are also present here. They dynamically recalculate and display data exclusively based on the filters you have applied.
3. The IP List Table
Below the visual charts, you will find the IP List Table. This is a chronological, row-by-row log of every individual visitor interaction.
Important Note: Just like the charts above, the data populated in the IP List Table is strictly dictated by your applied filters.
This ensures you only see the exact traffic segment you want to analyze, providing an immediate, high-level look at the IP address, click date, and general location of each targeted visitor before you click to investigate further.
Phase 3: Individual Visitor Intelligence (The Modal)
For absolute transparency and security auditing, you can investigate any individual click event. Clicking on a specific record row inside the IP List Table will open the detailed Visitor Intelligence Modal.
Standard View: IP Information Tab
By default, the modal opens to the IP Information tab, providing enriched data based on the visitor's network connection:
- IP Information: IP Address, Click Date, Country, City, State, District, Postal Code, Continent, Country Capital, and Calling Code.
- Coordinates: Estimated Latitude and Longitude based on the IP routing.
- Timezone: Local Timezone (e.g., Europe/Bucharest) and Time Zone Offset.
- Network & Security: The Internet Service Provider (ISP), managing Organization, ASN (Autonomous System Number), VPN Status (Yes/No), and Is Bot Status (Yes/No).
- Device & Browser: Device Type, Device Brand, Device Name, OS version, exact Browser version, and the Referrer URL.
Advanced View: GPS Geo Location Tab
If you enabled GPS Tracking when creating the short link, and the visitor explicitly granted location permissions in their browser, an additional Geo Location tab will appear in the modal.
This tab overrides standard IP estimates with highly precise, device-level coordinates:
- Precise Geo Location: IP Address, Geo Country, Geo State, Geo City, Geo Postal Code, and the highly specific Geo Address (e.g., Block B, Ashok Vihar Phase III Extension, Gurugram).
- Exact Coordinates: Highly accurate Geo Latitude and Geo Longitude pinpointed by the device's GPS hardware.
Important Privacy Note: GPS coordinates are strictly opt-in for the visitor. If a visitor denies browser location access, this secondary tab will simply not populate, and Trimlink will automatically fall back to the standard IP Information estimates.
Phase 4: Traffic Quality (Human vs. Bot)
Trimlink continuously analyzes visitor behavior to classify traffic quality and keep reporting accurate.
Human & Bot Traffic Intelligence
- Human Traffic: Generally includes customers, leads, prospects, campaign participants, and legitimate visitors.
- Bot Traffic: May include security scanners, monitoring services, automated crawlers, search engine bots, and suspicious activity.
Manual Traffic Classification
Sometimes trusted visitors or internal infrastructure may be incorrectly classified. Administrators can manually override classifications.
- Mark as Human: Use this option when the visitor originates from internal company networks, corporate VPNs, trusted infrastructure, verified users, or known customers.
- Mark as Bot: Use this option when traffic appears to be automated software, security scanning, monitoring systems, fraudulent activity, or suspicious automation.
Phase 5: Data Management
Export Analytics Data
Analytics and visitor intelligence data can be exported for reporting, auditing, and compliance purposes. Exportable data may include:
- Visitor Records & Click Analytics
- Country, City, Browser, Device, & Traffic Source Reports
